Reuben Perry of Draper, UT, is number nine of eleven siblings. Being a member of a large family, he spent a great deal of time with his 3 brothers and 7 sisters. With so many siblings, his parents were adamant about spending time with each one of them.
The desire to create, build, draw, and color came early in Reuben's childhood as he was very creative. Not being a prodigy by any means, Reuben's art as a child was the average artwork of most children. Through many hours, sheets of paper and canvas, pencils and paint, he acquired skills and talents that surpassed others' abilities. The artistic gifts started to come later in life amidst many other experiences in life.
Many past times were spent in a large variety of ways. As a child, he would participate in regular little boy activites such as climbing trees, building clubhouses, riding bikes, playing video games, wrestling with older siblings, cutting barbie dolls' hair off, etc. Reuben's career of choice at the age of 4 was to be an Astronaut, which explains his current fascination with the many wonders of Outer Space.
Reuben's hobbies and preferences are so widely ranged that he tends to be very handy in many situations. Because of this well-roundedness, he thoroughly enjoys creating many different types of art in different mediums, and different subjects.
High School was a fun period in life in which Reuben spent a lot of time in his music, art, and video games. Music plays an enormous role in Reuben's life as it stirs emotions and ideas. He loved going to concerts with his older brother and friends. Music was nearly always playing while drawing or painting and was only turned off while Reuben was playing a computer game.
At the age of 19, Reuben left his home and family in Utah to serve a Full-Time LDS Mission. He was called to the England Birmingham Mission and was able to attend the Missionary Training Center in Preston, England. To say the least, those 2 years were filled with many happy experiences.
After his Mission, Reuben went to Salt Lake Community College, studying Fine Arts while working as a Video Editor for David Perry Films. After a semester, Reuben moved to Logan and attended Utah State University, studying Aerospace Engineering. While in Logan, Reuben met his sweetheart and was married in the Logan, UT LDS Temple in 2005. Shortly after getting married, they moved to Utah Valley where Reuben attended Utah Valley University(Utah Valley State College) where he earned his Associates of Science in Engineering Graphics and Design Technology. He is currently studying Software Engineering and hopes to graduate with a Bachelors in a couple more years.
Motorcycles have always been a part of Reuben's life. His grandfather, father, and uncles owned Perry Brothers Honda - a Honda Motorcycles shop - for many years, which is now located in Sandy, UT. Reuben bought a 1978 Honda Goldwing for $100 when he returned from his Mission and rebuilt the engine and made other repairs at the Honda shop. His old "Wing" was his main transportation for about 3 years until he sold it (for a small profit) with the intent to buy a new Honda VTX1300.
Reuben's art has never stopped regardless of how busy life became. Art has always been a place to go to unwind, communicate, and to serve others. He wishes today to be able to serve you and provide you with an Epic Mural that can bring a smile to your face.
